I know that no one intentionally says, “I can’t wait to go to work and be average today.” And, all too often, we do just that, settling for less than our best. It happens for a variety of reasons – the overwhelming amount of work we deal with every day, the complexity of leading people, the anxiety of stretching ourselves beyond our current capacity, etc. – and the truth is you don’t have to settle for less than your best.
I know what that feels like – going in to work, wanting to give your best, wanting to BE your best, and somehow not being able to pull it off. Leadership is not for the faint of heart.
